About Us

Run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.

We just love old cars. That is the reason for everything we do. Because we own and run classics ourselves, we understand what our clients expect and strive to deliver. Our founders are father and son team Gerald and James Russell, a chartered accountant and a solicitor respectively. They worked on many cars together before founding the business in 2012. As hands-on classic car owners with a wealth of business experience they have been, and remain, closely involved with all aspects of the business.

Our manager, Jordan, who is a very experienced technician on modern cars, was a later convert to classic cars. Now, the older the better in Jordan’s view. Jordan particularly enjoys our pre-war cars and has gained extensive knowledge of these grand old dukes and dames. Jordan manages the team, looks after our customer relationships, chases difficult parts and generally finds solutions to whatever a project may throw at him.

Our most senior technician is Richard Sheppard, who is probably one of the most experienced classic car technicians in the country – he fixed a number of traditional British classics when they were still under warranty from new. Shep has been around so long he’s a bit of a classic himself! With extensive experience on vintage and veteran vehicles dating back to the first days of motoring, Shep also worked at an independent Ferrari specialist for a number of years and has extensive race-prep experience. Shep loves a challenge and no job is too daunting.

Shep is ably assisted by foreman Paul Smith and technicians Adam and Andrzej. Paul has over 30 years’ experience as a vehicle technician and is passionate about classic cars. Outside work he is nearing the completion of a concourse restoration of a 1963 Mk 1 Spitfire, which is a car he has owned since his 20s. He also has significant experience with younger and future classics, including cars from the 80s and 90s. Adam – another car nut who has personally restored a VW Camper and a Honda Civic – is our fabrication specialist and his metalwork skills are second to none. Andrzej has good experience across a range of classic vehicles, with extensive experience on classic Minis, having worked at a specialist restorer for a number of years. Classic minis are therefore something of a specialism.

Feedback

Whilst we attend some Classic Cars shows and events every year, our business has grown principally by word of mouth over the last 10 years. Here is a small selection of testimonials from our customers:

Nigel Macdonald

Maintenance and repairs of classic cars built in another generation requires not just specialist knowledge, but also a degree of empathy with the vehicles themselves and the skill to respond to unexpected challenges that arise. The classic car team (Jordan, Shep and Paul) all share those values, with enthusiasm, and it makes all the difference. So do the owners, for I found that the Directors contact their customers after work has been undertaken to ensure complete satisfaction (or learn of any issues).

I am truly delighted at the way they recommissioned my old Daimler convertible, solved a number of problems and made it a really enjoyable car to drive once more, and the way they have tackled the different but complex challenges posed by my Mark 2 Jaguar and the rather less demanding, but not entirely straightforward tasks involved in recommissioning my Morris 1000 Convertible.

Mr Maltin

I just wanted to write to let you know that the team have done a fantastic job on my Wolseley 21/60. It’s not an easy car and they have completely sorted it. Great customer service throughout and good quality work. Well done to the whole team.

Mr Greenwood

I have a 1971 Triumph TR6. It went for a tune up. It now runs the best it ever has! You can’t beat experience, of which there is not a lot about any more.

Mr Line

I am now driving the Vanden Plas as much as my work permits. It is brilliant.

Mr Marjoribanks

Great job on the Spitfire, tuned to perfection. I couldn’t resist going for a spin this evening between showers. Amazing! Thanks!

Mr Bramwell

I can’t tell you how pleased I am to have the Morris back. The carpets look absolutely beautiful, such a good job. I think I chose the colour well! Took her out for a quick spin, running like a dream, it’s amazing how excited I got to have a working speedo! It hasn’t worked before in the 38 years I’ve had the car!! Thank you so much to you and your team, Your service has been truly excellent. I am a very Happy customer!

Mr Monks

The Pop drove beautifully on the way back home, my only problem now will be bringing the rest of it up to the same high standard as the engine!
